## We’re looking for moderators, please see below. Octant is building a community-driven ecosystem, and as we continue to grow, maintaining a welcoming, informed, and well-moderated space is a top priority. To support this, we’re launching a Community Moderator Program for Discord and seeking 2-3 moderators to help foster meaningful discussions, support new members, and keep the community safe from scams and misinformation. To apply, please use this application link: > **[Applications for Octant's Community Moderator are currently closed!Thanks to...](https://octant.fillout.com/community-moderator-application)** > > Apply to participate in Community Moderation ### **What does the role entail?** Moderators will be responsible for: - **Enforcing community guidelines** and ensuring respectful discussions. - **Identifying and removing scams or malicious content** quickly. - **Helping new users as they first join** , answering common questions and pointing to additional resources when necessary. - **Escalating critical issues** to the core team when necessary. - **Driving engagement** by sparking and moderating discussions. Moderators will **not set policies** but will have discretion in enforcing the rules as they see fit. ### **Application Process & Selection Criteria** We are looking for individuals with: - **Familiarity with Octant** and its mission. - **Strong Web3 knowledge** to help guide discussions and assist community members. - **Prior moderation experience** (preferred but not required). If we receive a large number of strong applications, we may conduct a second round of interviews. ### **Application Questions** Interested applicants should answer the following: 1. **What time zone are you in, and is this your permanent location? Do you frequently travel?** (Time zone coverage across different regions is a key consideration in our selection process) 2. **Why do you want to be a moderator for Octant?** 3. **How familiar are you with Octant and its mission?** 4. **Do you have experience moderating Web3 communities? If so, please describe your experience.** 5. **How would you handle a situation where a community member is spreading misinformation about Octant?** 6. **What would be your immediate response to discovering a scam or phishing attempt in the Discord?** 7. **What strategies would you use to welcome and engage new users?** ### **Compensation & Commitment** - **Payment:** $500–$800 per month, based on experience. - **Paid in:** USDC. - **Time Commitment:** 10–15 hours per week. - **Trial Period:** First **2 months** , followed by performance review. - **Evaluation Criteria:** - Ability to **support new members** in finding information. - Effectiveness in **driving new conversations** in the community. - Responsiveness to **moderating spam, scams, and inappropriate content**. ### **Escalation & Support** Moderators will report major issues directly to **Durgadas and James** for resolution. They will regularly check in with the moderation team to ensure alignment and provide support. Moderators will receive: - A **guidelines and best practices document** to follow. - An **onboarding call** to clarify expectations and answer questions. - Access to an **internal moderator channel** for coordination and support. ### **Duration & Term Limits** This is an **experimental trial**. After the first round, top-performing moderators may transition into **long-term roles**. If a moderator **underperforms or chooses to leave** , we’ll address each situation individually.
