Announcing The Octant Community Fund Round 2

I also think it will be easier of sorts.
With individuals, you have eight dedicated people you can reach out to as a project.
Eventually, it would be great for the projects who don’t make the cut get a notice (if they wish to) that tells them a max of three key points about what they could improve for the next round.
If it is a company/ project/ community behind one position, it will always be hard for them to know who to talk to.

GM Octant team! I’m really excited for this new round. I would like to nominate myself for this second edition of the Octant council.

Experience with Octant

  • I was part of the first octant council, specifically working in the dev tooling group where I reviewed, discussed and gave feedback to all proposals. Then I followed up with the Growthepie team to ensure that deadlines where met and the products where delivered as promised.
  • I had 1-on-1s and group conversations with other council members and Octant core team members to help shape the first round. I was particularly interested in providing insights on community alignment, values and long term vision of future grantees.

Other Web3 experiences

  • I’ve been mostly dedicated to DeSci since I started my web3 journey in 2020. First working at the BanklessDAO research guild, then moving to talentDAO as a core team member and researcher (we got the highest match amount allocated in Gitcoin Grants Round 15, DeSci round)
  • I’m one of the four members of the DeSci Research group, dedicated to study the growth and expansion of the DeSci ecosystem. We cover founding sources, research/infrastructure development, organizational structures and operations. Our work has been published in Mirror and we are about to publish a “Phase II” paper with a follow up of our previous research.
  • I’m currently doing my Masters’ research on DeSci, understanding how these teams use blockchain tech and DAOs to solve some of the challenges found in science from a systemic view.

General background

  • Anthropologist, currently getting my Masters degree on Social Systems Theory.
  • I have a fiat job (don’t we all do?) working on operations for the last 3 years, so I have solid experience with project management, team communication and flagging issues on time.

What would I bring to this new round?

  • Previous experience with the Octant council. My biggest contribution was communicating often and early, whenever we needed to meet a deadline or push work forward. I provided feedback and asked questions openly so all team members could understand the issue.
  • Teamwork: forming a cohesive group would be a priority, so we don’t rely on 1 or 2 “heroes” that do most of the work.

I am excited to submit my application for a seat on the Octant Grants Council, specifically expressing my interest in contributing to the Community or Marketing groups. I believe my background, experience, and passion for fostering positive change make me a valuable candidate.

Background and Experience in Public Goods and Decentralized Projects

My most recent journey since joining Warpcast has been transformative. I began as an active participant in several DAOs, including Purple and Yellow, and helped spearhead the Wayward Artists Collective (/wac). Recently, I participated in my first public goods funding round, contributing to retro-funding initiatives for the /wac channel. This experience deepened my understanding of the importance of supporting creative and community-driven projects within decentralized networks.

I have been involved in various ground teams and subgroups focused on exploring and testing new technologies—breaking things to fix them, removing impediments, giving feedback, and embracing the ethos of FAFO. In these roles, I played a crucial part in providing feedback and creating feedback loops. As a beta tester, I have contributed to the improvement of numerous products by identifying issues and offering insights for enhancements.

As a moderator on several Discord projects, I provided support to community members, facilitated communication between QA teams and users, and ensured a positive and engaging environment. Although some of these projects have since ceased operations, my commitment to community building remains strong.

Project Management and Technical Skills

I hold a Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification, which has given me a solid foundation in Agile methodologies and Scrum practices. While I haven’t had extensive opportunities to apply this knowledge professionally yet, I am eager to utilize these skills within the Grants Council. I am confident that my understanding of Agile principles—such as facilitating team collaboration, promoting self-organization, and fostering continuous improvement—will be valuable assets in coordinating efforts within the Community or Marketing governance board.

My technical skills include familiarity with Web3 technologies, community management tools, and beta testing processes. I excel at translating complex technical concepts into accessible language, ensuring clear communication across diverse audiences.

Communication Skills and Innovative Thinking

Effective communication is one of my core strengths. In my various roles, I have consistently demonstrated the ability to convey technical information in clear, relatable terms without “talking down” to others. I believe that respectful and level communication is key to successful collaboration and community building.

My approach to problem-solving involves creative thinking and empathy. While I may not have traditional marketing experience, I bring a fresh perspective and innovative ideas that can contribute to impactful marketing strategies. My creative background allows me to see the world differently, which can lead to unique solutions and approaches within the council.

Vision for Octant’s Growth and Success

I envision Octant as a catalyst for innovative ideas and creative approaches to retro-funding that go beyond traditional methods. By embracing diverse perspectives and fostering a community centered on collaboration and open communication, I believe we can drive positive change and growth within the ecosystem.

My goal is to contribute to Octant’s mission by applying my empathetic and creative insights to the grant evaluation process, particularly within the Community and Marketing working groups. I am committed to ensuring that funding decisions uplift society, promote unity, and prioritize healing and well-being.

Alignment with Octant’s Mission

I am passionate about the transformative power of art and creativity. A long-term goal of mine is to become an art therapist, recognizing how artistic expression can help individuals communicate and process emotions. This aligns with Octant’s mission to support projects that have a meaningful impact on communities.

By encouraging initiatives that harness creativity and innovation, I believe we can expand the definition of public goods to include projects that foster emotional well-being and societal cohesion.

Availability and Commitment

I am fully prepared to commit approximately 20-24 hours in total for this role. I understand the importance of attending mandatory calls and meeting proposal review deadlines. While I will need to coordinate with my in-office day job, I am confident that I can manage my schedule to fulfill these responsibilities.

Unique Skills and Contributions

I bring to the governance process a combination of compassion, passion, and a unique creative perspective. My experience in various communities such as Purple, Yellow, WAC, and others has shown me the value of diverse voices in decentralized ecosystems. I am dedicated to fostering inclusive environments where innovative ideas can flourish.

In the context of the Community and Marketing working groups, I believe my skills in community engagement, communication, and creative thinking will be particularly beneficial. I am eager to apply my Scrum knowledge to help streamline processes and facilitate effective collaboration within the council.

Conclusion

I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve on the Octant Grants Council, especially within the Community or Marketing working groups. I believe that my background, skills, and vision align well with the council’s goals. Thank you for considering my application.

I am happy to get an opportunity to get a chance to be part of the grant council. I am writing this application with the aim of declaring interest in this position, and to nominate myself for this opportunity, with the following details:

Over the past few years, I have been an active and dedicated member of many alpha communities, where we talk about different good and potential projects, NFTs share knowledge about crypto as a whole. I have been involved in many raffle contests, where NFTs with good potentials have been distributed. Lately, I decided to diversify, and move into other aspects of Web3 and tech like Front End, Back End and graphic design, with the purpose of adding to my skills and also building the community in the process. So, I can safely say I am a Web3 enthusiast.

Related Experiences

I have been a strong member of the SEARCHFI community for some time now, partaking in the development of the community by making sure I invite people of like minds into the community and web3 space at large. Many NFT projects like Chronoworlds under polygon chain, GPT wars under Ton, Ohplay, Nibiru chain and many more, have been given to me by this community, as a reward for my dedication, and also a way of encouraging me to do more. Other alpha communities I have worked with include Zax, Jungle, Lumex, Habibi alpha Alliance and many more.

I have also taken part in starting up a new community; Pure vision, by using my communication skills to create awareness, which attracted collaboration managers and investors to the new community.

Lately, I decided to venture into Front and and Back end development through the Multi-life Techpreneurship community, with the sole aim of spreading the knowledge I got, thereby Leading my fellow youth to a better future.

Why should I be Picked?

To be on the Octant Grant Council, I believe someone with discipline, experience, and commitment should be a qualified candidate, and I have these qualities.

The Non-Fungible Tokens I have all come in the form of grants, therefore, I have gathered experience in the areas of grants, and also potential project Identification.

Giving feedback is one of the ways I review a project, helping other people adequate information to scrutinize a project before investing, in order to avoid loss of funds.

Conclusion

I would be happy to receive an opportunity to be part of the Octant grant council, as a devoted member of the community, whose primary aim is to create awareness and bring development to communities by onboarding new and enthusiastic members.

Why I Am the Right Fit for the Council
I’m new to the Octant community but been around the block for a few years. I’m full time founder of x23.ai but i believe it’d be quite synergistic to be part of the grants council. I’m able to lend my technical expertise, knowledge and network in web3 to both improve and expand the grants program. In addition, I can benefit as a founder by being more ‘on the pulse’ of what is important for Octant, as well as the current state of public goods funding / grant funding.

Past Contributions to Public Goods
My startup x23.ai has a free public newsfeed that serves as a public good by aggregating and summarising DAO/community activity across web3. We have received various public goods grants for our work (Lido, Reserve, ENS, Gitcoin) as well as general grants from DAOs (Aave, Optimism, Arbitrum). As part of our work with one of Arbitrum’s grant programs, we created a public grants information feed in collaboration with Sov’s Crypto Grant Wire.

Previously I worked at Aave where we released various open source code for developer to be able to build (e.g. flashloans). I also did early open source research into bonding curves in 2018.

Other open source public goods repositories can be found on my Github.

I’m also a community organiser/educator, being one of the organisers of ETH Dev NL and previously organiser of #BUIDLAmsterdam meetups.

Experience Reviewing Grants or Working with Decentralized Governance
I’ve been a reviewer for the Aave Grants DAO (AGD) for a few years, lending my technical knowledge and deep understanding of DeFi to help ensure the right and viable projects are being funded. This included filtering, selecting, and/or interviewing potential grantees.

Before AGD was decentralised, I created the first version of the Aave Grants program in 2020, so have experience creating a program from 0, including building the team and work process around the program.

I’ve also received multiple grants (detailed above), so I’ve seen both sides of the process and understand the importance of a smooth and clear grant giving process.

Active Community Participation in Decentralized Ecosystems
I was previously active in DeFi communities such as Aave, however now my focus is on building x23.ai to help others increase their participation.

Vision for How Octant Can Grow and Succeed
I believe Octant has already done a great job in making use of its vast resources and community. The next step would be to expand the impact by broadening the scope of things it supports, in addition to focusing on supporting projects that can be sustainable. This requires a broadening of the technical, business, and crypto native skills of the grants council, which I can help with.

Unique Perspectives: Insights or Skills I Bring to Benefit the Governance Process
I’ve been in crypto since before ethereum reached mainnet and have been involved with a few very large and successful crypto companies. My unique perspective is steeped in the times before broad acceptance of crypto and before financialisation. I’m deeply aligned with the decentralisation and bazaar ethos of ethereum and will ensure these ethos are represented in the grants council.

Gm, Octant family!

I am writing to express my keen interest in joining the Octant Grants Council. With over 15 years of professional experience across various sectors, and a deep, ongoing commitment to the Web3 ecosystem, I believe I am uniquely positioned to bring valuable insights and skills to the council.

Professional Background and Web3 Experience

I have been actively engaged in Web3 for the past four years, during which I co-founded Kleomedes DAO within the Cosmos ecosystem, a venture dedicated to decentralized governance. My involvement with blockchain projects has deepened my understanding of decentralized communities, and I have hands-on experience with the intricacies of DAO management. Additionally, I co-founded a consulting firm Nearchos specializing in advising Web3 projects, offering strategic guidance on operations and governance. My extensive leadership roles across industries have equipped me with the ability to strategically plan, manage, and evaluate projects, which directly aligns with the requirements for evaluating and distributing grants.

Skills in Grant Evaluation and Strategic Decision-Making

As a CEO and co-founder in multiple companies, I have been involved in project evaluation, team management, and resource allocation. These experiences mirror the proposal review process expected on the Octant Grants Council. I have a knack for applying analytical thinking to complex challenges, and my background in business development further strengthens my capacity to contribute innovative solutions to the governance process.

My ability to identify impactful initiatives is rooted in years of practical experience, from lighting design and robotics to Web3 startups. I have always strived to ensure that the resources available to my teams were allocated efficiently and in line with broader organizational goals. This capacity for structured, results-driven management will be invaluable when reviewing and providing feedback on grant proposals within the Octant ecosystem.

Alignment with Octant’s Mission and Vision

Octant’s commitment to decentralized public goods aligns strongly with my personal and professional values. I am passionate about contributing to the future world through innovative technology and governance models, and the opportunity to participate in shaping the Octant ecosystem excites me. I am eager to bring my skills in governance, leadership, and problem-solving to the Grants Council, ensuring that funding decisions reflect the long-term vision for a vibrant and sustainable Octant ecosystem.

Why I’m the Right Fit

  • Web3 Expertise: My involvement in Web3 ecosystems, from Kleomedes DAO to consulting for Web3 projects, means I am familiar with the landscape, its challenges, and the potential impact of grants in driving innovation.
  • Technical Understanding: I have built projects from the ground up, both technical and operational, giving me a well-rounded skill set to evaluate grant proposals with a critical eye.
  • Leadership Experience: I’ve led teams and managed multiple businesses, and my focus has always been on creating clear, transparent processes—skills that are crucial for effective grant evaluation and management.

Vision for Octant’s Growth

I envision a future where Octant’s grants program is not only a driver of ecosystem growth but a benchmark for decentralized governance excellence. My goal, if selected, would be to contribute to a transparent and efficient process that empowers community members and aligns with Octant’s mission. I see immense potential in supporting initiatives that prioritize sustainability and long-term value creation for the ecosystem.

Conclusion

Joining the Octant Grants Council would be a natural progression of my dedication to Web3 and my desire to contribute to decentralized governance. I am confident that my skills, experience, and passion make me a strong candidate for this role, and I look forward to the possibility of contributing to Octant’s continued success.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Gm, great to see the community fund evolving!
I also want to add my nomination, though, awesome to see so many talented applicants already (-:

Experience

  • I’ve been in crypto since 2017, wrote my Master thesis about governance in DAOs and since then, have been an active community member and delegate (Tally Tally | bitblondy-gov.eth)
  • Originally, I have a background in social sciences and I’m passionate about decentralized social systems, open-source development and web3 education (hence my web3 resources website https://web3-resources.xyz/)
  • I was part of the first community grants council (dev tooling working group) and enjoyed reviewing the proposals and finding consensus with the other members

Vision

  • Since hearing about Octant, I find its approach to funding public goods via Ethereum infrastructure very interesting, I see the project becoming a role model for the public goods ecosystem
  • I strongly support the idea of a community fund, alongside public goods funding, focused on benefiting the Octant ecosystem to enhance its growth and impact (as Octant is already doing with the accelerator, community building, and app improvements). I would therefore focus on this upon reviewing proposals.

Greetings Octant Community!

I am hereby submitting my application to the Octant Grants Council.

I will keep my application short and sweet:

Qualifications:

  • I’ve been deep in web3 for 4+ years now
  • Helped launch and operate several DAOs
  • Business Management Degree with a focus on Ethics
  • I have been in leadership roles in various professional capacities for over 20 years
  • Strong focus on building organizational structure for decentralization and permissionless onboarding
  • Active in councils across multiple ecosystems: CoDAO (Coordinape), CcDAO (Cheqd), Kleomedes, Nearchos. This includes evaluating capital allocation decisions of many different kinds.
  • I was actively involved in helping design and manage the first round of the Octant Community Grant Fund.
  • I have been actively working in coordination with the core team to gather feedback from participants last round to help guide the next round’s success.

Value Alignment:

  • I follow the Way of the Punk
  • I believe in building autonomous systems that are designed to be resistant to internal capture and encourage innovation and revolution from individual voices as well as collective consensus
  • I want to help build a system that supersedes those of us who design it. Each iteration should bring more distribution of authority and consolidation of responsibilities, with the process of engaging becoming more permissionless/autonomous.

Final Thoughts

I believe that what Octant is doing is some of the most important work in the ecosystem right now. I’ve been following the project since before it was formed, and have been continually impressed at the progress being made. There is nothing in this industry more important to me right now than working on building org structures for Octant to accomplish the goals of the organization as a whole.

By being a part of this council I get a front row seat to all the pains and roadblocks we need to overcome. I am committed to doing whatever it takes to keep this project moving forward in accordance with the values and ideals it has been formed with.

Gm Octanters!

I’m excited to self-nominate for the Octant Grants Council.

I’ve been active in the Octant community for over a year now, and was previously involved in Octant Governance, particularly in the Community Rounds working group. Over the past year I participated in Town Hall meetings and forum discussions on ways to improve Octant’s governance. I also wrote multiple articles in the forum with ideas on how Octant can improve its outreach, bring more members and communities on board, and suggested ways to build a more robust system to realize Octant’s mission of sustainable public goods funding.

My contributions to public goods is as follows:

I founded Abundance Protocol and work full-time on building a self-sustainable mechanism to fund common and public goods at scale.

As part of my work I deal with improving and scaling existing public goods funding mechanisms such as retroactive funding, and quadratic funding, and working on resolving the issue of potential sybil attacks on a protocol (an issue that Octant is also currently dealing with).

I authored the book The Abundance Economy, where I discussed the limits of our current economic paradigm and how we can use blockchain technology to put us on a path for sustainable economic growth. The book itself is available for free (a public good).

My relevant experience within the Web3 ecosystem:

I’ve been in the public goods space of the web3 ecosystem since 2000. Over that time I’ve been involved in multiple communities, including Gitcoin’s GreenPill, Optimism, Trusted Seed, MakerDAO’s ReFi AVC, and of course Octant.

As a founder, protocol developer and builder in the web3 space I need to deal with developing a long term strategic plan for the project’s growth, user onboarding, outreach, and so on. I’m therefore deeply familiar with all these processes and can bring my insight to the Grants Council.

As a builder of a public good I’ve also participated in grants QF rounds, so I’m familiar with all sides of this process, its challenges and ways to address these.

My vision for how Octant can grow and succeed:

I’ve been very bullish on Octant since day one. I believe in the mission, and I’m building tools (Impact App on Farcaster) to help Octant grow and expand its community. I’ve also written about strategies Octant can adopt to grow its community in decentralized social media. I believe this is one important element of a broader growth plan, and happy to share more ideas.

Thank you for considering my application!

gm Octant community.

I’m excited to submit my application to the Octant Grants Council, adding to the pool of talented and experienced applications.

Qualifications and relevant experience

  • I have been working in web3 since 2021 contributing to several public goods projects as a researcher, writer and “herder of cats” (aka coordinating people) (e.g., Impact DAO, RnDAO, Radar, MetaGame).
  • As co-founder of TogetherCrew, I have participated in several GitCoin QF rounds. I’m familiar with challenges and concerns applicants face.
  • Before web3, I was in academia working in departments with very flat hierarchies
  • I have experience with decentralized governance within RnDAO
  • I have written grants for web3 projects and scientific funding providers since 2015. I’m well versed in taking applications apart and looking for links between the applications and the community’s goal.
  • I am skilled at translating technical concepts into every days language, providing constructive feedback on applications, and keeping the final objective in mind. I hone this skill in my “normie job” supervising capstone students.

Contribution to Octant ecosystem

  • I’m supporting peers of the accelerator with information and tips
  • I’m engaging with Octant’s social media on Twitter and Farcaster
    • Since locking GLM I have participated actively in their governance

Vision

  • I’m excited about the flywheel The Golem Foundation is building via Octant. Too often “free money” is spent in web3 without any consideration on the learnings of failed and successful projects. It’s free money, so who cares. To avoid this we need transparent criteria, post-funding check-ins and a space to record learnings.
  • I find that too often an outsized influence is given to technology forgetting the social layer behind innovation. I love what is being done in the Octant growth accelerator, giving a much needed push to go beyond building. I’d love to think about new ways for people to “pull each other up”.

I acknowledge the time commitment that comes with this role, the need to attend calls, and the cross-working group collaborative nature of the role. I’m excited for this potential opportunity to work closer with the Octant community.

Application for Octant Grant Council Membership

Dear Octant Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my interest in becoming a member of the Octant Grant Council. I have been actively involved in the crypto space since 2020 and have had the opportunity to work on and scale projects across various domains. My experience spans competing in hackathons and working on grant-funded initiatives, including my current role at susu.club, a project fully funded by PoolTogether. Additionally, I remain actively engaged in hackathons and other community-driven efforts.

I believe I would be a great fit for the Octant Grant Council, and here’s why:

Why I’m a Good Fit ;

With several years of experience in the crypto space, I have gained valuable insights by working with different teams and projects. Being part of the PoolTogether community, which funds the project I currently work for, has given me a strong understanding of public goods, grants, and the proposal evaluation process. I am confident that my skill set aligns well with the requirements for evaluating proposals. Here are a few key areas where I can contribute:

Product Design (Graphics)
I hold a degree in graphic design and have worked on various web3 projects. My expertise in UI/UX and product design is crucial for helping projects create user-friendly, consumer-centric solutions. With my design skills, I can contribute to improving Octant’s product and funding processes, making them more accessible. As an illustrator, I have also created customized memes that help engage social groups in a fun, meaningful way.

Project Management
Currently, I serve as the project manager and graphic designer for susu.club. Over the years, I have learned to focus on the needs and feedback of the community. I ensure that we’re always improving and that we stay aligned with the public’s expectations. This experience has honed my ability to manage projects and people effectively, with a focus on public interest.

Research & Critical Thinking

My work often requires deep research and critical thinking, especially when it comes to simplifying products and boosting public funding methods. I have been involved in building games and decentralized platforms, both of which demand a high level of problem-solving and innovation.

Community Engagement
As the founder of the Let’s Go Up community, I actively onboard and communicate with startups. I am also an active member of Pairwise, ThriveCoin, RNDAO, and several other public funding DAOs. This extensive network and engagement with different communities have given me a strong sense of how to nurture and grow decentralized ecosystems.

Conclusion
With my experience and skills, I am confident that I can help grow the Octant community and contribute meaningfully to the development of products worthy of funding. My goal is to drive impactful projects forward and continue making a difference in this space.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of contributing to the Octant Grant Council.

Been Octant pilled by @wasabi so here i am to present my case for being a council member.

My contributions to the web3 ecosystem so far -

  1. Founder of $EARTH - Programming money to incentivise climate finance, make regeneration a reality and build the solarpunk paradigm.
  2. Co Founder of LetsGROW Dao - Growing and uniting the Regen/Refi movement with our initiatives - Lets GROW Live, Regenaissance and more enroute
  3. Co Founder of Solarpunkverse - A culture hub dedicated to growing the Solarpunk movement and funding its public goods via NFT collections

Skills relevant for Octant Council imo -

  1. Have looked at innumerable capital formation, allocation and utilization mechanisms while designing $EARTH which is probably the first currency designed as a new unit of value that is purely backed by RWAs and inherently valuing nature.
  2. With Lets GROW Dao and before have been in the trenches to build the #Refi as an ecosystem.
  3. Conducted a QF round denominated in $EARTH for 42 projects doing Social + Environmental IMPACT work all across the planet
  4. Actively tracking mega DAOs like Maker, Olympus, Curve, Gitcoin, Centrifuge, Goldfinch etc. Have learnt a fair bit around designing DAOs + sense of what works and what doesnt and what does it take to execute in a DAO.

My intention for joining the council is to see how we can steward the funding being disbursed at regular intervals via Octant in a more regenerative manner. I would like to see projects receiving funds add more value to grow the Octant ecosystem so that the glacier that is Octant has a perpetual supply of capital for projects creating positive externalities in the world. Curious to explore what feedback loops can be designed so that the flow of value is not one way - From Octant to projects but more :cancer:

Want to see Octant be able to leverage its current position to get bigger so that it can do more good for the web3 ecosystem and the real world.

Warm Solarpunky regards,
Utkarsh

Hi everyone!

I’m excited for the opportunity to join the Octant Community Fund Grants Council.

A bit about me: I began my Web3 journey through the Kernel community, where I gained insight into decentralized collaboration and trust. I later joined the 2023 SheFi cohort, deepening my understanding of decentralized finance and Web3 tech. This fueled my passion for future of and inspired me to start building my technical skills through a web development apprenticeship, focusing on Ruby on Rails. My journey is not just about coding but about acquiring the skills to contribute to decentralized projects that align with my values.

In my previous career as a consultant, I developed strong project management and process development skills, helping public sector organizations transition systems to enhance operational efficiency. As a “professional generalist,” I’m adaptable, a quick learner, and skilled at juggling multiple roles while maintaining a focus on the bigger picture.

Direct Experience

At the Department of Justice’s COPS Office, I focused on managing federal grants, ensuring compliance with regulations, and improving the grant funding process. My role involved working with stakeholders to ensure the effective distribution of funds while providing strategic guidance to streamline grant operations. This experience built my foundation in grant management, financial oversight, and process optimization.

Vision for Octant Grants

I am eager to build on my experience in public goods and contribute to Octant by establishing clear fund distribution processes and improving communication with grantees. My goal is to enhance transparency and trust ensuring the community understands how and why projects are selected. I also aim to increase Octant’s visibility as a key resource for innovative projects. Lastly, I hope to contribute to a retrospective to improve the grant program’s effectiveness in future rounds, helping foster a stronger, more engaged ecosystem.

Things like that make you wants to be part of something bigger than yourself.

gm Octant community!

I’m excited to apply for a position on the Octant Grants Council. I’d love to bring my technical and functional experience in the Grants “backoffice”, as well as my vision as an active participant and grantee in different grant programs.

Relevant Experience for the Role
I’ve been with BuidlGuidl for over 1.5 years. My current role is Project Owner of our Grants program, as well as helping with Product and Project Management of several Public Goods projects within BuidlGuidl.

  • In our Grants program, I’ve helped building the technical side our Grants platform, and I’m the main reviewer of all the grant applications and build submissions when the grants have finished. Then, I’m part of the Grant Council that ultimately decides which projects we’re funding.

  • Other of my main responsibilities is to coordinate our participation in the different Public Good Funding rounds or RFP Grants where BuidlGuidl can be a good fit. I’m researching the various opportunities in the Grants ecosystem, preparing the proposals/applications for all our different products and programs the BuidlGuidl has, and applying to the different rounds (EF, Optimism RPFG, Octant Epoch 4 and 5, ENS small and large grants, Gitcoin Grants…).

  • I participate as a judge in different hackathons that BuidlGuidl is launching or sponsoring (Akindo, ETH Mumbai, Extensions Hackathon).

  • I participated in ETH London 2024 and won 3 awards (finalist, 1st prize, and 2nd prize from sponsors).

  • I’m part of a BuidlGuidl team that has built a Grants platform for an external DAO (as Product and Project Manager, as well as helping develop the platform).

You can check the rest of my Public Goods contributions on my GitHub Profile.

What I Can Bring to the Council

I bring hands-on experience with grants from both sides of the Grants ecosystem, as I’m actively participating as a grantee (through BuidlGuidl) in different grant programs, while also designing, building, and operating Grants platforms, reviewing grant applications, and evaluating hackathon projects.

I believe in transparent processes, constructive feedback, and ensuring funding gets into the hands of projects that will make a difference. As part of the Octant Grants Council, I would prioritize collaboration, inclusivity, and practical support for all grantees and community members.

Motivation for Applying

  • Help ensure that Octant’s grants program has the greatest possible impact.
  • Be more involved and engaged in the Octant ecosystem.
  • Make sure that grant funds go to the right participants in the ecosystem and not to those with purely extractive motives.
  • Provide feedback to grantees to help them maximize the impact of their projects.

Vision for Octant Grants

  • Create an accessible and straightforward grants process that truly empowers teams and builders making meaningful contributions to the ecosystem.
  • Encourage a culture of open feedback and guidance for grantees, helping them refine their ideas and maximize the real-world impact of their projects.
  • Ensure transparency and fairness in every part of the process, making sure all community members feel heard and valued.

I’m genuinely excited about the opportunity to be part of the Octant Grants Council and contribute to a thriving, impactful ecosystem.

Thank you for considering my application. I hope to contribute to making Octant’s grants program the best it can be!
