From Awareness to Action: Expanding Octant’s Presence, Staking, and Public Goods Impact in Brazil
Octant’s efforts to expand its presence in Brazil through educational initiatives, event sponsorships, and funding opportunities have resulted in meaningful engagement with the local Web3 community. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of the work done and its impact.
Virtual Workshops
As part of our commitment to onboarding new users and raising awareness about Octant, we organized two virtual workshops on the Modular Crypto YouTube channel, hosted by Gabriella Mena. These sessions provided in-depth knowledge on Octant’s ecosystem and how to participate effectively.
The first workshop, “What is Octant and Why It Matters”, introduced Octant’s core mission, emphasizing its role in funding public goods and its alignment with Ethereum’s vision. We explored how Octant provides sustainable funding for impactful projects and why this model is essential for the Web3 ecosystem.
The second workshop, “How to Lock Your GLM”, was a practical guide detailing the process of GLM locking. This session ensured participants understood the steps involved, potential benefits, and common troubleshooting points. To track engagement, we provided a GLM Locking Form, ensuring participants could verify their contributions through a personalized link.
Modular Carnival Event
The Modular Carnival, held from February 26 to March 1 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, was a landmark event for the Brazilian Web3 space, gathering over 1,500 attendees. More than 1,000 students aged 17 to 21 were onboarded into Web3, creating a significant opportunity for long-term community growth. With 12 high-profile sponsors, including Octant, Ethereum ESP, Arbitrum, Celatam, Scroll, Chainlink, and Nouns, the event featured 55+ expert speakers, covering public goods, decentralized governance, Layer 2 solutions, ZK technology, and Web3 growth strategies.
Octant had a strong presence, delivering a dedicated talk and workshop led by Gabriella Mena, where attendees learned about Octant’s impact and the importance of quadratic funding. The event received significant media attention, with coverage from major Brazilian crypto news outlets such as Livecoins and Cointimes. The event generated over 500 organic tweets, showcasing its reach within the Crypto Twitter community. Octant’s branding was widely visible, appearing in 200+ social media posts, banners, and promotional materials.
Another highlight was the Octant-sponsored rest lounge, an interactive space where attendees could learn more about Octant in a relaxed setting. This area saw heavy foot traffic and helped boost recognition of Octant’s brand.
The event also included a Hackathon, which saw 150 participants, 42 project applications, and 18 final submissions deployed on Arbitrum and Scroll networks. Beyond the conference and hackathon, Modular Carnival featured 6 interactive booths, a gaming room, a coworking space, and a VIP lounge providing full-day catering for over 200 guests.

We kicked off the round with a social media post explaining what Octant is, how a quadratic funding round works, and what public goods are. We also officially announced the launch of the round to our community. On March 21st, we hosted a Twitter Spaces session to go deeper into what Octant is, how the quadratic funding mechanism works, and the concept of public goods. During the session, each project gave a short introduction, and we announced the upcoming “Pitch Week”—three days of live sessions on YouTube and Twitter/X where each project could present what they do, their impact, and future plans.
Each Pitch Day averaged around 200 viewers across YouTube and Twitter/X. In total, 174 unique donors supported the projects, representing 87% of the average audience per Pitch Day.
