Gm Octanters!
I’m excited to self-nominate for the Octant Grants Council.
I’ve been active in the Octant community for over a year now, and was previously involved in Octant Governance, particularly in the Community Rounds working group. Over the past year I participated in Town Hall meetings and forum discussions on ways to improve Octant’s governance. I also wrote multiple articles in the forum with ideas on how Octant can improve its outreach, bring more members and communities on board, and suggested ways to build a more robust system to realize Octant’s mission of sustainable public goods funding.
My contributions to public goods is as follows:
I founded Abundance Protocol and work full-time on building a self-sustainable mechanism to fund common and public goods at scale.
As part of my work I deal with improving and scaling existing public goods funding mechanisms such as retroactive funding, and quadratic funding, and working on resolving the issue of potential sybil attacks on a protocol (an issue that Octant is also currently dealing with).
I authored the book The Abundance Economy, where I discussed the limits of our current economic paradigm and how we can use blockchain technology to put us on a path for sustainable economic growth. The book itself is available for free (a public good).
My relevant experience within the Web3 ecosystem:
I’ve been in the public goods space of the web3 ecosystem since 2000. Over that time I’ve been involved in multiple communities, including Gitcoin’s GreenPill, Optimism, Trusted Seed, MakerDAO’s ReFi AVC, and of course Octant.
As a founder, protocol developer and builder in the web3 space I need to deal with developing a long term strategic plan for the project’s growth, user onboarding, outreach, and so on. I’m therefore deeply familiar with all these processes and can bring my insight to the Grants Council.
As a builder of a public good I’ve also participated in grants QF rounds, so I’m familiar with all sides of this process, its challenges and ways to address these.
My vision for how Octant can grow and succeed:
I’ve been very bullish on Octant since day one. I believe in the mission, and I’m building tools (Impact App on Farcaster) to help Octant grow and expand its community. I’ve also written about strategies Octant can adopt to grow its community in decentralized social media. I believe this is one important element of a broader growth plan, and happy to share more ideas.
Thank you for considering my application!
