Impact Garden
Project Description:
One of the main issues observed in past RetroRounds in multiple ecosystems is the lack of validation from beneficiaries on how useful a project has been to the ecosystem development. The main problem being that this data doesn’t exist, is scattered or is not standardized for evaluation and inclusion in decision making processes. Impact garden is here to change that.
Impact Garden is a protocol designed to generate on-chain impact data, significantly improving the funding decisions for public goods. The protocol accomplishes this by:
- Creating an on-chain registry of Web3 contributions.
- Capturing the benefits and impacts derived by others from these contributions.
- Leveraging social graphs to augment the value of this data.
- Providing resources for contributors and projects to refine their roadmaps and strategies based on user feedback.
Funders can use this data to identify and fund projects within their ecosystems that have demonstrated significant community impact. As a public good, Impact Garden is open-source and offers free access to its data, facilitating improved decision-making for both projects and funders. The project has not received any private funding and aims to establish itself as a foundational tool for comprehensive impact analysis within the ecosystem.

- Marketing campaign to drive use with selected projects.
Q4
Increase accessibility to the generated data and gathering of new data.
- Dev Work: $21,000 USDC
- Product/Marketing/Design: $12,750 USDC
- Admin (platform, tech expenses): $1,000 USDC
Expected Deliverables:
- SDK for projects to include feedback functionality directly on their platforms.
- Dashboard for private feedback.
- API endpoints for data querying.
Funding Requested
Funding Goal: 10 ETH
If we fall below the funding requested we will reduce the scope of work and use the funds to continue to finance the development work.
If we reach our funding goal we will develop the plan as described and if we exceed our funding goals this will enable us to solidify our runway for the project for the next months.
Impact Measurement and Reporting
Inputs > Activities > Outputs > Outcomes > Long-Term Impact
- Short-term Outcomes (0-3 months): Completion of beta release, frame generation, and basic analytics dashboard.
- Mid-term Outcomes (3-6+ months): Increased user engagement, adoption rates, and integration with additional protocols.
- Long-term Impact (5+ years): Establishment as a foundational tool for impact assessment in the Web3 ecosystem, driving better funding decisions based on comprehensive data.
Outcomes Measurement:
- Number of ecosystems using Impact Garden’s data.
- Amount of funds distributed using the data.
- Number of registered contributors.
- Number of contributors receiving funding based on Impact Garden’s data.
- Degree of interconnectedness with other grant ecosystems.
Interim Reporting
Regular Updates:
- Quarterly
Milestone Verification:
- Deliverables and progress reports will be submitted to verify milestones in Karma GAP.
Sustainability Plan
The path to financial sustainability includes:
- Developing strategic partnerships with Web3 ecosystems.
- Leveraging on-chain data to create a model for premium analytics services.
- Expanding the platform to cover more protocols and ecosystems through grant funding.
Case Studies and Testimonials
Gathering Feedback:
Feedback will be collected through user surveys/interviews, and community engagement via social platforms like Farcaster and through our own platform.
Showcasing Success:
Case studies and testimonials will be compiled and shared through Mirror posts to highlight the project’s impact on each of the ecosystems it is live on.
Advancing Values of Freedom and Privacy
Impact Garden is committed to decentralization and privacy by ensuring that all data captured is securely stored on-chain. We support and promote the goal for decentralization and freedom of Web3 by providing open access to data, empowering individuals and communities to make informed decisions for their funding allocation.
Supporting Decentralization
Impact Gardem is open source and enables decentralization through it’s composability with other platforms and the accessibility to our generated data.
Team Information
- LauNaMu | Founder: Expert in blockchain and impact assessment.
- Niall | Fullstack Developer: Experienced developer with a strong focus on decentralized applications.
Social Proof
Impact Garden was developed as part of the EAS Fellowship, where it was selected from over 100+ teams. The project is currently working closely with the Optimism Foundation team to ensure compatibility for future RetroRounds.
Transparency
All funds received will be managed on-chain, with clear documentation of how funds are allocated toward operational costs.
Other Funding
- Zuzalu Gitcoin Round Q2: 3.8 ETH (May 2024)
- Approved Grant from Optimism: Allocated for Metrics Garden Labs, but not specifically for Impact Garden, this grant is also locked for one year until mid 2025.
The Impact Garden team is excited to participate in their first Octant Round and looks forward to potential collaboration opportunities to further enhance their protocol and its impact on the Web3 ecosystem.
