Project Description
Kolektivo builds onchain, open-source tools and applications that enable real-world communities to create local impact economies. Since 2019, we’ve built and tested Web3-powered institutions that uplift local changemakers and create impact-driven economies. We’re part of the Unicef Ventures Climate Action Cohort (7 out of 600 teams) and have documented our process through our reports and videos.

Budget Breakdown
Milestone #1: Upgrade the mobile app with key AA features, allowing seamless user interactions and recovery. Cost estimation: $10,000-$15,000 in R&D.
Milestone #2: Integrate onchain impact tools (EAS, Hypercerts) and payment tools directly into the Mobile and Web App, allowing for the generation of impact claims at scale. Cost estimation: $25,000-$50,000 in R&D.
Milestone #3: Partner with local teams to enable community stablecoins in our pilot locations and enable on/off ramps accerlating the potential of our pilots. Cost estimation: $5,000-$10,000 in partner costs
Milestone #4: Accelerate the pace of local pilots to reach 1% of a country’s population as Kolektivo users in at least one pilot location. Cost estimation: $10,000-$50,000 in program management, marketing, and impact incentives.
Our total budget for 2025 ranges between $50,000 and $125,000.
We expect 40% of the costs to be in H1 2025, so we’re requesting $20,000 - $50,000.
Plans should you fall below, reach or exceed funding goals:
Our team has experience working with budget ranges and can readjust the product and program scope according to the available budget.
The Kolektivo Labs team has spent months working on the project for free in the past. However, that’s not ideal and limits our capacity. The minimum viable funding target for H1 is approximately $20,000 USD, which will allow us to make good progress on our Q1 milestones and start scoping out an end-to-end version of our platform.
If we exceed funding goals, we’ll accelerate the roll-out of our next platform and increase the scope of the local pilots.
Impact Measurement and Reporting
Short-term Outcomes (0-3 months):
In the short term, we expect to continue rolling out our current platform in our two key pilot locations and building up regional legitimacy and community trust. We will also be able to learn from the progress of these pilots to start scoping out the next iteration of our platform, which would merge our Mobile and Web Apps into a unified, Web3-powered platform.
Mid-term Outcomes (3-6+ months):
In the mid-term, we plan to mature the programs in our two pilot locations and launch the market-ready version of our platform. Once we have identified and standardized the right paths to nurture and grow local Kolektivo ecosystems, we will start opening up the solution to other locations globally.
Long-term Impact (5+ years):
The end goal of Kolektivo is to allow local changemakers to kickstart impact economies driven by community capital in a specific country or region. By creating these local crypto-economic institutions, local impact and public goods will be well-funded and thrive without relying on a central governing body and traditional institutional networks. We will leverage Web3’s coordination capacity to connect and accelerate this global network, forming a global regenerative economy rooted in hundreds of locally focused impact economies.
Outcomes Measurement:
Interim Reporting
Regular Updates:
Our team builds in public and will share meaningful progress and community updates on our Website and social channels.
We commit to publishing a Quarterly progress report with a detailed breakdown of our progress and learnings and a year-end report in 2025 comparable to the Kolektivo Impact Report we generated in 2023.
Milestone Verification:
In addition to our progress reports, we will track and communicate our milestones and progress through our Karma Gap page, which we have used for the past year.
We will measure our development progress through our GitHub activity and our growth by measuring the use of our smart contracts and social proof through the generation of user and contributor testimonials.
Sustainability Plan
[Outline your path to financial sustainability, focusing on key strategies such as your revenue model (e.g., product sales, subscriptions), strategic partnerships or collaborations, or any plans for securing future funding. You may choose to address one or more of these pathways.]
Case Studies and Testimonials
Gathering Feedback:
We gather pilot feedback in collaboration with our network of local changemakers. These people are deeply rooted in the local community and understand the regional context and needs, which allows us to clearly understand the problem and solution space.
For years, our team has successfully piloted and gathered feedback from real-world communities and (Web3) institutional stakeholders. These insights shape the development and roll-out of our solutions.
Below are some examples of the publications we created as a result of these testimonials:
- Regenerative Agriculture (Video)
- Converting Corporate Demand to Regenerative Finance (Blog)
- Mobile Money for Regenerative Economies (Blog)
Showcasing Success:
We’ll continue to produce reports, blogs, and videos as we have done over the past few years and share them on our website and social media.
Advancing Values of Freedom and Privacy
Kolektivo enables individuals in resource-constrained communities to uplift themselves through impact generation and grow their communities’ socio-ecological wealth. By giving people hope, a purpose, and a means to generate value - we will allow them to become more free.
Supporting Decentralization
Our team is pushing the boundaries of onchain, decentralized institutions, from supporting the onchain impact identification and verification space to innovation on local stablecoin and public goods resource allocation questions. We’re DAOists at heart, always optimizing for building tools and solutions that can operate without permission and in a decentralized setting.
Team Information
Our team consists of Web3 OGs combined with local innovators who have a proven track record supporting regional impact initiatives and are deeply rooted in these communities.
The current Kolektivo Network team consists of 1 Product Lead, 2 Progam managers, 4 Developers, 1 Designer, and 3 Local Impact Partners.
Team members include:
-
LuukDAO (Product Lead): Experienced Web3 entrepreneur and DAO operator. Founder of Kolektivo Labs.
-
Mark Pereira (Developer): Web3 developer since 2018, co-founder of Zed Labs, the team building Kolektivo in Trinidad.
-
Enrique Baddaraco (Designer): 3+ years of Web3 product design experience. Designed over ten applications for teams, including CeloPG, SafeDAO, and Superchain Eco.
Social Proof
Kolektivo has a long history of Web3 powered-impact innovation: - Joined the Unicef Ventures Climate Action Cohort (7 teams selected out of 600). Since 2019, we run Web3-powered impact experiments, primarily in the Caribbean. Our most significant experience and pilot to date was the Kolektivo Festival in Oct 2022, where we welcomed 700 locals to experience Kolektivo and test one of our mobile apps.
Transparency
The potential ETH received from the Octant Grant will partially be sold (estimated at 60-80%) on DEXs to fund development, and another part will be staked to generate some yield to fund local pilots.
